The Mission

Urban Rebuilding Initiative (URI)
Our Mission:

The mission of the Urban Rebuilding Initiative is to cultivate tools and resources needed for working and Middle class communities to confidently participate in the political system through political education and awareness, building relationships, and encouraging active involvement in community issues such as campaigns for living wage employment, affordable housing, and funding for public and higher education. With the lack of political representation in Middle and working class communities, the people face challenges in attaining education, living wage employment, and quality affordable housing.  Due to these challenges and the resultant lack of confidence, our communities do not actively participate in the political system. The result is that the needs of our communities are unheeded and unmet because there is no real accountability. Our aim is to encourage active participation in holding elected officials accountable to the issues plaguing our communities and positive involvement in resolving those issues as a community. Through helping communities develop a deeper understanding of the political system and aiding in finding solutions to those issues our communities are facing the Urban Rebuilding Initiative will give working and Middle class communities a chance to build as a people and promote growth for their communities. Instead of lining the pockets of politicians and fueling political machines, Urban Rebuilding is fighting to cultivate resources that will strengthen the foundations and traditions of our Middle and working class communities.
